It seems that almost everyone these days has a personal web page, a personalized domain name registered to themselves, or a space on some monstrous blogging site. Yours truly being no exception. The problem with most of these sites is that they are (IMHO) “The Pet Rock of this generation”. Sure, they are fun and cute now. But in a few years, most people are going to look back, or rather Google upon, their long forgotten myspace page or personal free blog and say “What the hell was I thinking?”
Don’t get me wrong, I think that most people benefit from a nice neutral space to vent and dump all the crap that most people don’t want to listen to in the first place. The problem is they dump all the crap that most people don’t want to listen to in the first place. Having said that, there are definitely sites that I find myself going back to over and over again. These sites belong to friends of mine and are constantly updated with not just their thoughts and opinions but snippets of cool stuff they have found while searching the web. In fact, about 20% of the stuff I get into is because of these finds that my friends have turned me onto.
As I stated before, this site is no exception to the rule when it comes to personal sites…as far as I’m concerned. But it does help me vent issues and hopefully share things that I think other people may find interesting.
